@SoccerKnight11: The dark marks are a result of injury to the skin caused by both the pimple and the trauma to the skin when popping them. The dark marks will fade with time, but this can take several months. It is very important to protect the dark skin from the sun, as dark marks are made darker by the sun. I would also recommend not popping pimples yourself, as this will cause more dark spots.
@xoKatieNicolexo: Unfortunately, there is no topical ointment to get rid of an acne scar, understanding that scars are holes or raised bumps. If they are just flat stains brown stains, then they may possibly be removed with topicals. For more info, see DermTV episode #32, “How to Remove Brown Spots.” If they’re red, then there are currently no topical treatments to remove red stains and refer to DermTV episode #50 for more info. Both episodes are available on YouTube and the DermTV site.

What is the procedure called when the cut out scars and who do i look for?….
plastic surgeons?…..
also is this “cutting” of the scars better than those laser fraxel treatments?….
where do i go to ask for cutting out scars?….
plastic surgeon?….
also what do you think about needle rolling for scars?…
@rizzay1: For cutting out acne scars, you should see a dermatologist. You can find one by using the “Find a Dermatologist” tool on the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery (ASDS) website. Regarding needle rolling, it’s harmless but not effective for scars that need to be cut out.
I have Suffered from alot of whiteheads and blackheads and iv always been told its okay to sqeeze them out so now it seems sqeezing out whiteheads causes terrible scarring, ice pick scarring, my entire face is full of it,basicly every whitehead i ever squeezed, i have like 7 pretty big and probably quite deep scars, but i have hundreds of little ,tiny ,though visable ice pick scars. Can you please tell me what i can do about this because i think i can never get rid of them .
hi doctor can i use hydroquinone products to stop acnè scars
what about bump scars? cause i have scars on y shoulders that are bump.. they look like cyst but they are never going away and they done hurt.. i could get a knife and stab it and it wouldn’t hurt? what do i do for it?
@bloodfalcon7722: It sounds like you are describing mature hypertrophic scars which can very effectively be treated with tiny injections of cortisone. See your dermatologist for treatment.
@brandlee1985 The only marks from acne that hydroquinone will help are tan or brown darkening from pimples (not redness or raised or depressed scars).
nie video. i like it. anyone heard of Hippocrates scars treatment kit. I’m thinking of giving it a try. any opinion???

Have you ever heard of “Derma-roller?” There’s a lot of videos on youtube and it was even featured on the Racheal Ray show. What do you think? Do you think it actually works?

hi, um not too sure which scar i have, on my chin i have a really dark spot and its driving me crazy. i know they come from cystic pimples. how do i get rid of them, or at least lighten them?
Hi Doctor – I’m 28 years old with red acne scars and enlarged pores on my cheeks. I recently saw a medical esthitician who suggested the Affirm laser as something that stimulates collagen production, etc. and really improve skin condition. Is there actual scientific evidence supporting/proving the benefits of this type of laser tx? any information would be greatly appreciated.
What about white colored acne scars, my arms/chest are covered in them as I used to break out as a teen very heavily, now I don’t break out as much on those areas and I am looking for a solution/procedure that will help fade them, etc.
@sara2618 It depends upon whether they are depressed or raised. If depressed, then this video is appropriate. If raised, then they are treated with injections of cortisone to flatten them.
@mousa1019 Yes there is meaningful evidence and information available, which you can find by visiting the Affirm website.
@sweetchix14 Brown discolorations are treated with bleaches. For more information, see DermTV Episode #33, “How to Remove Brown Spots,” which you can find by searching YouTube.
@arturor48 I’m not quite sure from your condition. I would suggest seeing a dermatologist. They could even just been clogged enlarged pores.
I popped a pimple for more than a year ago. The scar is still soemwhat red!!
Is it possible that I will have a permanent mark? (I popped it before it really became a big pimple)
I hate the fucking mark. Help me please!
i have white acne scars, theyre flat and i heard it is pigment loss. is there ANY way i can get rid of them?! please help.
@MegaZoneEXE Non-ablative laser treatments, such as with the Fraxel, can help acne scars in patients with African skin tones, but ablative lasers like CO2 are very risky and should be avoided.
