I can’t get laser surgery for my acne and scars because my skin is too dark?
Went to the dematologist. Asked the cosmologist about the laser treatment for my acne and hyperpigmentation. She said that it is not recommended for my skin type (I’m African-American). Have you ever heard of such a thing?
I wasn’t hinting at racism. My dermatologist suggested that laser treatment could be an option for me, so when the cosmologist didn’t recommend it, I just found it odd, that’s all.

i’ve heard also is doesn’t really do any good if african americans get laser surgery because they have a darker pigmentation so its harder for the laser to penetrate through the skin…i think that suxx as well
Yes. … If your hinting towards the cosmologist being racist or such… she’s just tellin’ the truth. It doesn’t work on your skin type as well.
i don’t think that she would lie about something like that. Im not completely sure, i could see how that could make sense just like how extremely white people shouldn’t use tanning beds cuz it isn’t right for their skin… if you don’t think she’s right then maybe get a second opinion, you never know what other options you have. But im just throwing it out there it sounds like an expensive surgery so if the lady could take your money im sure she would!1
Try eating really bland food. That got rid of my acne in 2 days.
Resurfacing method is not recommended for people with olive skin, brown skin or black skin . Also, if you have active skin infections you are not a candidate for this procedure.
Smootbeam Laser and Fraxel Laser are a great African americans acne scar treatments.
