Any advice for controlling adult acne?
I’m almost 37 years old and have more acne now than when I was in my teens and 20′s. I’ve also started to notice scarring on my face from past breakouts. Can someone explain why this is happening and recommend ways to help get this problem under control? I’ve been trying different store bought acne creams but they haven’t helped much and also irritate my skin. Thanks very much in advance for your help.

I’ll tell you what, go natural. Natural remedies work. Start off by ditching all harsh and synthetic chemicals. They are terrible for your skin in the long run (not to mention, expensive). Switch to all natural or organic products and you will see a major difference. I can’t even tell you how much my skin has cleared just from using natural home remedies. This is coming from someone who has had tons of acne and scars on my face. Beyond belief.
Vitamin E is really good for scars. So is Rose Hip Seed Oil and Tea Tree.
Oh and you should definitely try the BestBathStore soaps. All of their soaps are handmade with 100% natural ingredients. I’ve been using their acne cleansing bar as my morning wash. It only took about 2 days for me to see major improvement on my scars.
I’m not the only one. They have an entire review section here:

They offer free samples as well. Hope that helps. Take it easy.

Sounds like I could of written this.
Ive had acne since I was 10 im now coming up for 39 and its getting worse. I have it all over.
Your doc might try you on a topical antibiotic and or oral for a long period of time. This can be affective for some.
I have been on accutane twice and I would not recommend it. Second time on it I had a nervous breakdown I never recovered from.
Start small. Look at your lifestyle. Are you under increased stress, eating healthy, drinking enough water? Water really helps. It just takes practice to drink it. Your bladder gets used to it eventually too. Hot water and a slice of lemon in the morning. Exercise helps. Getting sweaty in the gym get all the pores open.
If like me none of this helps completely get yourself to he dermatologist. Try the antibiotics.
I really feel for you. I’ve not been on a date in years or swimming because I won’t show my skin off.
Good luck
Many people do have acne as adults. Hence the term "adult acne"! Some have it until welll into their 40 and 50s.
See a dermatologist for an assessment of your condition and treatment.
You probably have sensitive skin. Try washing with Ivory soap and using Witch Hazel afterward but omit the acne creams.
