Acne Treatments: What Should I Do Next? Need HELP!
Option 1: Move on to laser treatments (0 per treatment )along with Spironolactone + Birth Control Option 2: Do nothing for the next 6 months save enough money to start an Accutane treatment. I DO NOT HAVE HEALTH INSURANCE, so I would need to pay for the Accutane treatment myself. The only way I can afford to do this is if I stop seeing a Dermatologist and do NOTHING for my skin until I have enough to pay for the treatment myself.

Basically blood exam 100month, accutane pills 200-300month and dermo visit -80…so far around $500 a month but so WORTH IT!!! please get on accutane!!! dont let money stop u
im on Claravis 40mg and it cost me 192 a month on walmart for 30day supply. call again and ask for 40mg for 30day supply and u will c. TRUST ME ..accutane works, i am so happy i got on it, i was so frustrated b4 and would also cry about my acne, but now im almost done with 5 months
..
500 a month is not terribly bad… thanks for the info. this is exactly what I was looking to find out. THANKS!!!!
Is your skin really clear now? when do you finish your treatment?
yes i dont break out anymore, i just started my 6th month yesterday. If u want send me ure email and ill send u some before and after. I love it!! I never thought i would have clear skin..i suffered for many years n tried EVERYTHING!
can you get financial aid? sometimes you can get discounts… i only pay $5 per month for my accutane thru the government.
and not to burst your bubble but you have to refill every 30 days…. and get bloodwork after the first month, and have one derm appoitnment per month.
Option 3:
What is your diet like? While you’re saving up for accutane or another treatment, evaluate your diet if you haven’t already.
Start from square one. Eliminate refined sugars, white (white bread, rice, pasta, etc.), juices, and meats.
Eat whole grains, fruits an veggies. Read labels because there’s sugar in a lot of foods.
Then after a couple weeks, slowly introduce dairy for the next week and see results, red meat the next week, see results, etc.
Some people can have an unknown food allergy/sensitivity. Dairy, eggs, and citrus are some common ones. It might even be a gluten sensitivity.
I found out that refined sugar causes me to break out. It takes about a month for my face to clear up. But I have to keep at it or it comes back.
Experiment w/ ur diet while saving $ for Acctane. You’ve nothing to lose.
My diet is horrible
I don’t eat very healthy at all. I MUST change my diet like you said and experiment with it. This will definitely be the hardest thing I will have to do!!!

My boyfriend went on Accutane treatment after struggling with acne for years and cystic acne at that. It totally cleared up quick, he’s skin looks flawless now. We both have horrible skin, now i’m thinking about Accutane treatment
Assuming it is caused by a certain food(s), the hardest part is finding out what it is. I hear you don’t have insurance (I don’t either) but if you can, maybe get an appointment with an allergist or endocrinologist and get some tests for food sensitivities or hormone problems. It might give you a shortcut to figuring out the problem.
If you do find out what it is (and I hope you do), it will be hard to adjust your diet. But trust me, when your skin clears up because your hard work and discipline you will be so happy. Though I don’t think I really need to tell you that.
You are so pretty! It sucks that you have to go through that kind of acne. =[ i hope it gets better. Don’t cry hun! <3
First of all just so you know.. You look beautiful
I wanted to let you know abt your condition what a lot of people don’t know is that spironolactone therapy/birth control works best if the acne is hormonal. Start with a simple blood test that looks for potassium levels and aldosterone levels as well. The blood test has to be done PREMENSTRUAL (thats when aldosterone levels are highest and potassium levels are low)
{Increased Aldosterone levels increases sebaceous gland secretions and contribute to acne}
FYI Skin peels and laser treatments are definitely a bad idea inflammation or irritating the skin makes the skin prone to infections hence more acne.
I say do option 2 cause you’ve tried so many other stuff to ur face, it’s prolly doing bad than good, give ur skin a rest and save up and start on accutane. Im on my 3rd month, my derm started me off with one pill a day ( 40mg) which was like $300, and then my derm bumped my dosage up to where i was taking 80mg twice a week and 40mg on the other days. that was like 4 hundred something, im on my 3rd month now, where im taking 80mg one day and 40 the next, that was like five hundred something..
but i only paid 10$ each time i picked up my prescription, cuz my insurance paid the rest… its expensive but its very worth it, my skin has cleared up tremendously and am very happy with the results.
Goodluck with everything and I hope ur skin clears up. =)
have u tried going on birth control? it helped me alot…you seem so nice btw
